Venables Oak is a trading name of Venables Brothers Limited, a name rooted in one family’s 150 year association with timber and joinery. Brothers and co-owners Chuck and Paul Venables and their team carry on the tradition founded by the brothers’ great, great grandfather Henry Venables in Staffordshire.
For five generations, the Venables family has worked with oak and other European hardwoods, from selecting full grown specimens from mature woodlands to bespoke joinery and furniture making. Both Chuck and Paul are expert joiners and Paul Venables is a recognised leading authority on timber and the use of it in joinery, new build and restoration projects. Chuck Venables advised the Building Research Establishment on the development of the British Standard for the grading of oak beams. Chuck was the first grader in the UK to be certified to Grade BS5756. www.bre.co.uk
